about the Wedding
The couple escaped to Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia, where they stayed in a private three-bedroom villa with breathtaking views of the Caribbean. Between luxurious spa treatments and tranquil beachside moments, they soaked in the joy of their new journey together.
Peyton’s proposal was just as thoughtful. He chose the historic Ivy Hotel in downtown Baltimore — a setting filled with refined charm and romance. It later became the first-look location on their wedding day. For their December fête, they selected the The Belvedere Hotel, a Beaux-Arts architectural masterpiece whose historical grandeur perfectly complimented their vision of moody, modern elegance. With the expertise of Belvedere and Co. Events, led by President Lindsay Luna and Lead Planner Olivia Otto, they curated a one-of-a-kind celebration.
Sophia met Peyton after completing nursing school at Philadelphia’s Drexel University. When she returned home to Baltimore, a mutual friend made the introduction that would change everything. From their very first date at The Gunther in Canton, they knew their connection was extraordinary. Over a meal of the city’s best cuisine, they enjoyed delicious drinks, easy laughter, and a night they would never forget.
Following a traditional Catholic ceremony at the historic Baltimore Basilica, guests enjoyed an elegant cocktail hour inside The Belvedere's gorgeous 12th floor Platinum Ballroom. A string trio wove together classic melodies with modern tunes, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.
Guests were treated to a lavish seafood display — oysters, crab legs, and shrimp cocktail — alongside an engraved ice sculpture serving dirty martinis and espresso martinis throughout the night. Thoughtful details made every moment personal: custom napkins, S&P-monogrammed matchbooks, signature drink signs, and elegant drink stirrers, all designed by the talented Sarah Lewis of Slate and Brush.
The newlyweds wanted a moody, romantic, and elegant vibe for their ultra-chic reception. Rich-textured, creme-colored fabrics adorned the grand ballroom's tables and lined the windowed porticos, glints of black and gold highlighted the silverware and dinner plating, and an abundance of stunning white floral arrangements with gold classic candelabras from expert floral designer Jeff Johnson at Blue Vanda Designs completed the look.
Inside the grand ballroom, the newlyweds’ vision of moody romance came to life. Creme-colored fabrics adorned the tables, with black and gold accents in the dinnerware and decor. An abundance of florals, highlighted by gold candelabras, created a rich, atmospheric glow. Expert floral designer Jeff Johnson of Jeff Johnson at Blue Vanda Designs crafted elegantly layered arrangements that perfectly complemented the couple’s aesthetic.
Guests dined on coffee-rubbed filet mignon with a red wine bordelaise, Belvedere’s signature Maryland crab cakes, roasted potatoes, and grilled asparagus. Live music from Spectrum band with Washington Talent Agency kept the dance floor full all night.
After cutting their tiered white cake, the couple toasted with classic champagne coupes, savoring every moment. A personal touch: the bride’s family provided handmade Italian love cookies as a nod to tradition. A variety of signature cupcakes by Cake by Jason Hisley and a classic black-and-white photo booth added even more fun to the evening.
For a festive surprise, Sophia and Peyton took to the stage mid-reception, unveiling an overstuffed red Santa bag filled with custom embroidered Santa hats. As they joyfully tossed the Santa hats to their guests on the dance floor, confetti cannons sprinkled “snow” across the ballroom, all set to Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You — a perfect winter wedding moment.
